Gene Check offers both codon 171 and codon 136 Scrapie Susceptibility Tests for all breeds of sheep. Tests for codon 154 and codon 171 "H" allele are also available. All tests can be run from a single blood sample. Results are reported rapidly and confidentially.

Scrapie Susceptibility Test Prices:

• Additional testing on archived DNA is $9 for Scrapie, $11 for Spider (per animal, per test)
• Rush testing is available for a $15 fee (per animal, per test)

* Gene Check does not reccommend testing at codon 136 except for some QQ and QR stud rams, generally from outside of North America. Therefore, we offer "sequential" testing. We will test at codon 171 and then test at codon 136 based on the 171 genotype. Call for details.

Results are reported rapidly and confidentially and are typically available 3-5 business days from receipt of samples. Sequential testing and large lots, particularly during the Spring rush, may require somewhat longer. Rush service (results on the second business day after receipt of samples) is available.
